How to AdoptAdopting For LifeTo help ensure that we place our cats in loving, responsible, and committed homes, we have a screening process involved before adopting a cat or kitten to you. Adopting a pet is a lifetime commitment, so potential adoptive homes are screened carefully by our volunteers. We try to fit the right human companion to the right cat and ensure a secure and enduring home. Since our volunteers foster and interact with the cats on a daily basis they can also discuss the personalities of the cats or kittens with you. Our adoption process begins with an application that tells us about you and your family, and any other pets you have at home. After you have completed the application, a volunteer will review it and maybe ask you some questions to make sure that you and the cat or kitten you have chosen are a good match. This is also a good time for you to ask us any questions you might have. Please keep in mind that not everyone who applies will get a pet. This has more to do with the pet than with the applicant. Most of our cats have experienced hardship before they came to us. We appreciate your understanding and are grateful for every application. But our primary consideration in all placement decisions is the welfare of the pet. If your adoption application is approved, you will sign the single page contract and will be able to take your cat or kitten home right away in most instances. Occasionally, a home delivery or visit may be made as a required part of the adoption procedure. There is a minimum adoption donation of $125. Please note that in certain cases of cats that are pure-bred or rare-breeds, the adoption donation may be higher. The Adoption Fee and What It IncludesOur minimum adoption fee is $100 for cats and $125 for kittens and it includes:
These services would ordinarily run up a bill over $250. Of course an adoption donation above the required amount is always welcome, since many times we must provide additional medical care such as blood panels, fecal tests, treatments for eye and upper respiratory infection, and sometimes surgeries.
